I spend way too much time watching music videos on YouTube and obsessing over the comments. I think it’s the closest thing to lying on the floor and reading the liner notes in this digital age.
I stumbled upon this beauty of a video the other day and it washed me with inspiration. “Fly High Michelle” by Enuff Z’Nuff plays like time capsule of the late eighties. From the squelching guitars and hair metal aesthetics matched with visuals awash in special effects, everything about this video is gold. Displaying the limits of green screen technology you’ll not only see the band floating in the sky or on a cloud-like stage, but the object of the video (presumingly named Michelle) soaring through the atmosphere.

Gotta love it when they forget to edit your shadow out of the sky.
But with every great music video from the past come the comments, and they do not disappoint.

I’m going to start using that phase and not explain myself.
Here’s my personal favorite:

Spare me your Talking Heads, or R.E.M., or even the Cure Alternative music began and, quite frankly, ended with Enuff Z’Nuff!
“Fly High Michelle” was the biggest hit for the glam rockers and despite not reaching further heights, the band is still active and touring.
